I AM ALIVE!

Hi blogging friends,

I've been a horrible blogger, and I'm not necessarily promising I will get better. It seems with work and summer events starting, there is not a lot of free time! And that free time is spent with my favourite people... being Jordan and Avery :)

Work is great... but busy! I'm still part time, but I find myself taking work home lately and preparing presentations and working on clients files during Av's nap time and after she goes to bed. That then leaves my "nap time duties" to be done some other times... not sure when that is?! I also like to spend as much time with Avery when I am home from work! But I know this is many working mothers dilemma, this is just me ranting and still adjusting. But I sure am productive when I'm busier!

Anyways, reno projects are still on the go. Until our fence is done, in house things are on hold. More pictures to come! We've had lots of fun family gatherings lately, which I will post pics of once I get them (I hate forgetting my camera, thankfully my sisters and Mom didn't forget.) And I had a baby shower for my dear sweet friend Tara and her son Boston on the weekend which was lots of fun, hes so darn cute! Well here's some updates of my cutie pie lately!

Before church, she loves wearing her dresses.

This is Avey's tome boy side, she loves puttig her daddys hats on!

Oh and please Mothers out there who have had kids addicted to there soothers... this is a bad picture of Avery, but it shows her crazy addiction to soothers! I have a goal that by the time shes 2 I will be rid of that thing! But its going to be no easy task, any tips you mommas have are much appreciated!

Best way to get rid of soothers is cold turkey. You have throw them all away or else you will give in. We did this with Landon and had one crapppy day adn one bad day and then he forgot about them.

Avery is seriously too cute! I haven't had any soother addicts but I did have a bottle addict and the best thing was cold turkey for us (at 22 months old). She saw me pack them up in a box and I just kept telling her they were gone. It tooks a day or two of sadness but it works like a charm! I found though I had to really just be ready myself to put up with crankiness for a day and it worked out great.

I have no idea how to cure Kalea of her addiction either! Especially with Brynlee and her soothers around. She'll yank Bryn's soother right out and stick it in her mouth!

I have heard that people talk their kids into throwing them away themselves (I am not sure how they do that) but then when they want them you just remind her that she threw it away and it is all gone!

oh, also, I just thought of something...Rylee was completely addicted to her sippy cup....to the point of not eating cause she would drink too much, it was ALWAYS with her, so the doctor told me to just take them all away, just cold turkey like that....so I came home and cried, cause I felt bad, and then I just told her that they were all gone....packed them up while she wasnt looking and when she wanted one I showed her the cupboard where they usually were and told her they were all gone, so we had to use special cups instead..the doctor also told me to find something else that she could use as a comfort, like a blanket, which has worked great!

She is sooo cute!! I think I remember Tal and Graham cutting one of their girls soothers and then they showed her it was broken...something like that and she had to help throw it away. You should ask her how they did it cause it worked. Thankfully Ryker nerver took a soother...Maguire on the other hand loves his. One day I'm sure I'll be in the same boat as you. Good luck!

She is so cute! That last picture reminds me of Scott's Niece... She would have one in her mouth, one in her hand and the other one in the other hand stroking her face with it.
I realized when I got home, we never took any pictures of the shower!! Sad!

Hi Breanne! I was blog snooping tonight and found your blog! Hope you don't mind. Connor was my soother boy. He loved them. I'm not one to quit cold turkey... I think there needs to be a transition stage. I began with only letting him have the soother at home and only at sleep times (so afternoon nap and bedtime). The soother was not allowed to come out of the house (unless we went on a long car drive). I think I kept that up for a few weeks. Maybe it was even longer I can't remember. Then I began prepping him and letting him know that he would not get them at nap time but he could have them at bed time. After about a week of prepping him for this that is just what we did. He couldn't have it at nap but he could have it at bedtime when it was dark. We did that for awhile and then we began prepping him and talking to him about how we didn't need the soother anymore. That he was a big boy etc. and that he didn't need it. Obviously there was some crying but I just kept telling him that it was going to happen. I remember saying to him, "5 more sleeps with your soother and then after that there will be no more soother." And then the next day, "4 more sleeps with your soother and then after that there will be no more soother." Then when the last night came with the soother I reminded him that this was his last night with one. The next morning I took the soothers and cut the tops of them. They no longer had a suction to them so they didn't work. He was MAD! But I reminded him that he was a big boy and that he didn't need them anymore. I told him they were broken and didn't work anyways. Time to throw them away. He did it himself. He was sad for awhile but honestly it wasn't so bad for both him and me because it was gradual and because he knew what to expect. Good luck!
